Valentine’s Day Art Walk – The Great Outdoors!

If you, like millions of others, suffer from VDSS (Valentine’s Day Stress Syndrome), you’re probably just realizing as you read this that Valentine’s Day is coming up this week, and you haven’t done a thing about it. With or without a significant other, Valentine’s Day can stress out even the toughest among us, so don’t feel like you’re alone.

So what to do about it? Well, I can’t help you with that dinner reservation that you should have made some time before Thanksgiving, but I can suggest a fun event for those living in or near Seattle. Art Up PhinneyWood, the artwalk held every second Friday in the Phinney Ridge/Greenwood neighborhoods, just happens to fall on Valentine’s Day this year, and I just happen to be in it.

One of the sponsors of the artwalk is A-1 Piano Sales and Rentals, and this month they will graciously host the works of six or so photographers, painters, and jewelry designers. Participants include, among others, Orion Ahrensfeld, Sheri Diggins, Heidi Walker, Erika Arndt Klimecky, Carleigh Romeis, and me!

February 14, 6:00pm until 9:00pm
A-1 Piano Sales & Rentals
7020 Greenwood Ave North, Seattle

Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served, and, since the place is full of pianos, live music will be playing! I believe I heard something about jazz.

A number of other art as well as food venues up and down Greenwood Avenue are also participating, so finding a place to eat should be a breeze. Here’s the map from January – I’d be surprised if it changes much for February.

Getting there should be easy, especially for north Seattle folks. The Metro route 5 bus stops nearby – that’s certainly how I’m getting there.

If you’ve really screwed up and need a gift that night, did I mention that most of the art and jewelry is for sale? You’re saved!

So cheer up! There’s hope for Valentine’s Day after all! See you there!
